As industrial automation advances rapidly, brake motors have become core supporting components for various automated production lines and precision processing equipment. They deliver precise braking, quick shutdown and reliable locking, directly impacting equipment operation accuracy and workshop safety. Featuring sensitive braking, stable performance, wide compatibility and outstanding durability, TCG Taichuang brake motors are widely applied in packaging machinery, conveyor equipment, printing machines, automated machine tools and other mainstream facilities, serving as a trustworthy power solution in the industrial braking sector.
Under continuous and high-frequency industrial operating conditions, brake motors perform frequent start-stop and braking actions. Brake pads are normal wearing parts subject to constant friction. With prolonged operation, gradual wear enlarges the brake clearance. Without timely inspection and adjustment, common faults such as delayed braking response, insufficient braking force, shutdown slippage and positioning deviation will occur. These issues not only reduce processing accuracy and product yield, but also accelerate fatigue damage to internal motor components, raise failure rates and maintenance costs, and disrupt continuous production.
In accordance with the official maintenance specifications of TCG Taichuang Motors, the standard brake clearance is 0.4mm to 0.7mm. For on-site quick inspection and calibration, a standard business card is commonly used as a simple reference due to its convenient application. Regular clearance inspection and standardized adjustment are critical to maintaining stable motor performance, extending service life and cutting operational losses. To standardize on-site maintenance procedures, unify adjustment criteria and improve equipment management, we hereby publish the official standard adjustment procedure for the brake clearance of TCG Taichuang brake motors.
Step 1: Power off and disassemble in compliance with safety regulations
All adjustment work must follow electrical safety operating rules. Completely cut off the main power supply and brake control power of the motor, and confirm there is no residual voltage to eliminate risks of electric shock and accidental startup caused by live operation. After the motor comes to a full stop, remove the fixing screws at the motor tail and take off the cooling fan cover to fully expose the brake fan blade and adjusting mechanism. Clear sundries around the working area to ensure safe operation and clear visibility.
Step 2: Unlock positioning to activate the adjusting mechanism
A star-shaped adjusting disc is installed at the center of the brake fan blade, which is the core component for brake clearance adjustment. Two symmetrical locking set screws on both sides of the disc secure its position and prevent clearance deviation caused by equipment vibration. Carefully remove and keep the locking screws properly, then fully unlock the mechanism to ensure the adjusting disc rotates flexibly for smooth adjustment.
Step 3: Precisely adjust clearance within the standard range
Follow the unified operation direction: turn the star disc clockwise to reduce the brake clearance, and counterclockwise to increase it. Make minor adjustments step by step and conduct repeated inspections to ensure an even gap between the brake coil and brake pad. The clearance is qualified when a single standard business card can be inserted smoothly with moderate tightness, keeping the gap within the optimal range of 0.4mm–0.7mm. This avoids excessive heat and abnormal wear from too narrow a clearance, as well as weak braking and slippage caused by an overly wide gap.
Step 4: Lock, reassemble and conduct overall re-inspection
Once the clearance meets the standard, fix the position of the star disc and evenly tighten the two locking screws to prevent position shift. Recheck the clearance again for confirmation, then reinstall the fan cover and fasten all screws securely. After assembly, run the motor under no-load condition to verify smooth start and stop, responsive braking, no abnormal noise or slippage. The motor can then be put back into formal production.
Standard and regular maintenance is a fundamental guarantee for long-term stable equipment operation. Strict implementation of the brake clearance adjustment standards can maximize the braking performance of TCG Taichuang brake motors, effectively reduce unplanned downtime, and help enterprises achieve safe, stable and highly efficient automated production.
